PBL & Multicultural teamwork

We are happy to announce that the C-Inter project ‘PBL and Multicultural Teamwork’ has been selected for funding by the strategic education board.

We are happy to announce that the C-Inter project ‘PBL and Multicultural Teamwork’ has been selected for funding by the strategic education board. The development project has been inspired by findings in the recent survey conducted among students in the School of Culture and Global Studies. These results point to a possible lack of integration of Danish and international students within some CGS programmes. We have therefore suggested that multicultural teamwork be developed as a method that can inspire intercultural dialogue, adding a new, global dimension  to the Aalborg PBL model.

We accept in the project that multicultural project work is no automatic effect of internationalisation. We propose an interventionist method, developing tools and guidelines to support supervisors and students engaged in this type of work organisation. The project runs over 12 months and involves 1) an initial period of data collection (involving students and supervisors in two programmes); 2) action-research where we intervene by offering select groups extra supervision on integration and learning in multicultural project groups; and 3) knowledge dissemination in the form of written guidelines and workshops for supervisors involved in multicultural project work. Two programmes in the School of Culture and Global Studies have been selected for the data collection and action-research (the BA programme in English and International Studies and the MA programme in Culture, Communication and Globalisation), whereas the written guidelines and workshops will be made available to all AAU employees.
