A one-day workshop for PhD students within the field of Child and Teen Consumption is held just before the Child and Teen Consumption 2016 conference begins.

09.30-10.00 Welcome and presentation
10.00-13.00

The participants are split up in groups of PhD students and faculty members
Each project is discussed (brief presentation by the student, feedback from opponent and faculty members, discussion)

13.30-14.15 Presentations from Faculty Members

14.15-15.45 Linking PhD projects with Child and Teen Consumption literature. Each PhD student discusses his or her project in relation to two texts from the reading list
15.45-16.00 Sum up
18.00-20.00 Dinner at Restaurant La Locanda (CW Obels plads 3, 9000 Aalborg)


Participants

The workshop will gather doctoral students who all work with children and young peoples’ consumption – in the broadest sense of the word. To be admitted the students have to be enrolled in a PhD programme. Maximum number of participants is 20.


Purpose

The purpose of the workshop will be to give the participants knowledge about child and teen consumption, and the specific aim of the workshop will be to work with the significance of cultural contexts, relations and practices in child and teen consumption and to discuss methodological issues related to research with children and young people.


Organisation

The workshop is an intensive one-day event. It will be built up around short presentations by the faculty and will focus on doctoral student presentations where each presentation will be commented and discussed by peers and faculty.

The workshop will be led by researchers within the field: Professor Stephanie O’Donohoe, University of Edinburgh, Business School, UK; Dr. Lydia Martens, Keele University, UK; Professor Ines de la Ville, University of Poitiers, Centre du produit de l’enfant, France and Associate professor Malene Gram, Aalborg University, Department of Culture and Global Studies, Denmark.

Participants are asked to write and circulate a short project description before the workshop and to relate their work to central texts in the field of child and teen consumption.


ECTS: 1 ECTS


Fee for participation in the PhD workshop: 745 DKR including morning coffee, lunch and dinner.
