New associate professor: Jochen Hoffmann

CGS warmly welcome our new associate professor at ProCom - Communication and culture in professional context

Hej, I am a new Associate Professor for Organizational and Market Communication. I will be teaching primarily in the International Business Communication programme. My main areas of interests are external and internal oganisational communication, intercultural communication and political communication. I completed my Masters degree in Political Science before switching to focus on Communications. My PhD studies at the University of Zurich examined the relationships between the political elite and top journalists in Germany. A number of quantitative and qualitative research projects followed - mainly in the field of public relations and public affairs. My professional career to date has seen me live and work in Germany, Ireland, Russia, the United States, Switzerland, Cyprus, Sweden, Vietnam, Indonesia and Australia.

I am currently coordinating an international research network on corporate communications. Our first project was a comparative survey analysing the impact of culture on the corporate communication of Top500 companies in five countries. In the future, I also hope to contribute to tourism research at Aalborg University. Together with an NGO, I plan to set up community-based tourism projects in order to explore the communication processes that come to light when tourism business interferes with local remote cultures.
