The article is published in Innovative Practice in Higher Education. The article discusses how students learn through Problem Based Learning, how they become self-directed learners being in charge of their own learning and how ‘real life experiences’ enhances the students’ work readiness.
By following a group of students solving a task for an international NGO working with innovative, sustainable development and tourism, the article shows how students go through a process of learning by experiment. Learning is taken to a new level since being in a new context and being challenged on preconceived notions not only strengthened their learning process but also constructed a new experience.
