Network seminar Sundsvall 18-19 March 2014

We are delighted to announce our 4th NOPO network seminar, organized by Mid Sweden University in Sundsvall

Welcome to the 4th NOPO-network seminar at Mid Sweden University, Sundsvall. We are now accepting proposals and presentations from network members to the research panels. It is possible to submit a proposal for a panel (with several papers) or an abstract for a presentation. In the latter case, the organisers will divide the abstracts into thematic panels.

The abstract (max. 250 words) should include the title, the name, affiliation and e-mail address of the presenter(s). The participants are also requested to provide information on whether they wish to present a full paper or give an oral presentation.

Media and Populism


Prof. Toril Aalberg, Norwegian University of Science and Technology
Toril Aaalberg, is Professor of Political Science and Media Sociology at the Department of Sociology and Political Science of Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim. One of her current comparative research projects, Mediating of Migration, analyses how news media frame migration. She is also the leader of a new COST project on media and populism.
 

Prof. Gianpietro Mazzoleni, University of Milan
Prof. Gianpietro Mazzoleni is Professor of Sociology of Mass Communication and Political Communication at the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Milan. He is the co-editor of The Media and Neo-Populism: A Contemporary Comparative Analysis (Praeger Publishers, 2003), where eight country studies focus on the role that ‘media factors’ play in the rise and development of neo-populist movements and parties.

The deadline for registrations to the network meeting is 15.02.2014.
