We are delighted to announce our 3rd NOPO network seminar, organized by University of Turku, Finland

Welcome to the 3rd NOPO-network seminar at the University of Turku, Finland. We are now accepting proposals and presentations from network members to the research panels. It is possible to submit a proposal for a panel (with several papers) or an abstract for a presentation. In the latter case, the organisers will divide the abstracts into thematic panels. The abstract (max. 250 words) should include the title, the name, affiliation and e-mail address of the presenter(s). The participants are also requested to provide information on whether they wish to present a full paper or give an oral presentation. 

Please send the abstracts and workshop proposals to nopoturku2013@gmail.com. The deadline for abstract submission is 25.03.2013.
 

Keynote speakers

Dr. Ben Pitcher, University of Westminster: The North and the Left. New Geographies of Racial Politics

Dr. Ben Pitcher is Senior Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Westminster, UK. He is the author of The Politics of Multiculturalism (Palgrave Macmillan, 2009), an account of the racial politics of the British State under New Labour. He has also studied Barack Obama's 'post-black' politics and the relationship between race and neoliberal capitalism.


Dr. Baukje Prins, The Hague University of Applied Sciences: Headscarfs, Homosexuals and Hooligans. Issues of Gender and Sexuality in the Dutch Populist Discourse

Dr. Baukje Prins is Associate Professor of Citizenship and Diversity at the Hague University of Applied Sciences. She has conducted research on the discourse of 'new realism' in Dutch politics, the Dutch immigration and integration debates and the role of gender and sexuality in these debates. She has published in the areas of cultural studies, feminism, political philosophy, ethics, and ethnic and migration studies.

The deadline for registrations to the network meeting is 15.04.2013.
