Carolina holds a Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of Aarhus (2015). Her post-doctoral SERR project will compare the measures taken in Denmark and France to define and counter the problem of ‘prison radicalization’, in the aftermath of the Paris and Copenhagen attacks. Carolinas previous research has addressed issues related to immigration, illegalization, penal institutions and deportation in France, Denmark and the USA. During the past 15 years, she has worked for non-profit organizations and human rights bodies (including the French Human Rights Commission (CNCDH); La Cimade; l’Observatoire International des Prisons; Amnesty International; Cette France-là; and American Friends Service Comitee). The past years, she has taught social sciences at Columbia University of New York’s Paris Campus (Reid Hall) and sociology at Université Paris V – Faculté des Sciences Humaines et Sociales de la Sorbonne.
