Invitation to guest lecture by OBEL-professor Donatella della Porta on “Building bridges: Social movements and civil society in times of crisis”
The lecture is arranged by the Master Program in Sociology, specialization in Civil Society and Social Movements, Department of Sociology and Social Work in cooperation with FREIA Centre for Gender Studies, Department of Politics and Society.

Donatella della Porta is Professor of Political Science at Scuola Normale Superiore, Firenze, Italy and Director of the Centre on Social Movement Studies. Della Porta is a prominent international European scholar, whose impressive work on social movements, democracy and political violence has influenced students in political science, sociology, European studies, gender, and migration studies. The lecture is based on a recent article “Building bridges: Social movements and civil society in times of crisis” to be published in the leading international journal Voluntas. Other recent works of della Porta includes “Oxford Handbook of Social Movements” (OUP) (with M. Diani) and “Social Movements in Times of Austerity. Bringing Capitalism Back into Protest Analysis” (Polity, 2015).
