We often believe that intelligence, smartness, reflection and knowledge are key in contemporary organizations. But limiting critical thinking, reflection and asking about meaningfulness are also important virtues for a smooth working life. A key concept here is functional stupidity - a key quality in contemporary society.

Mats Alvesson is professor at the Department of Business Administration, Lund University, at University of Queensland Business School and a visiting professor at Aalborg University.
